That is the practical difference. Here is what is actually in it.

What a detail includes that a wash does not

A drive-through removes what is loose. It also drags whatever the last car left on the brushes across your paint, which is where a lot of swirl marks come from.

A detail is a different process:

• A foam pre-soak to lift grit before anything touches the panel
• A two-bucket contact wash, so dirt that comes off the car does not go back on it
• Clay bar and iron remover to pull out contamination bonded into the clear coat
• Machine polishing, where the paint needs correcting rather than cleaning
• A sealant, so the next few months of road film sits on top of something

Inside, that means extraction rather than a wipe-down, and conditioning so leather and plastics do not dry out.

How long each level takes

Timings are honest rather than optimistic, because underestimating them just means rushing your car.

• The Tune-Up — two to three hours. Maintenance, keeping a car ahead of buildup.
• The Refresh — half a day to a full day. Decontamination outside, a full reset inside.
• The Knockout — one to two days. Everything in The Refresh plus engine bay, deep extraction and sealant.
• The Revival — quoted per car. One-step machine polish to cut swirls and oxidation back out of the clear coat.

Paint correction and ceramic coating are booked separately, as is marine work.

What the van brings

Self-contained water and power, so nothing is needed from you except space to work around the vehicle. Foam cannon, hot water extractor, polishers, clay, and pH-balanced products chosen to be safe on paint rather than fast.

Work happens year round. Heavy rain or snow may mean rescheduling, since some steps need a stable surface temperature to go on properly.

It is not one service for every car

A commuter that lives outside through a salted winter needs something different from an air-cooled 911 that comes out on weekends, which needs something different again from a work truck.

The four levels exist so the process can be matched to the car rather than sold as a package. Pricing is quoted per vehicle for the same reason.
